Getting started: setting up your account

A step-by-step walkthrough of your first session, from invite email to fully active.

Written by Angelica Javier

Welcome to Saltbox! Setting up your account takes about 10 minutes and happens in two places: your browser first, then the mobile app to finish.

Before you start

You'll need:

  • The invite email from Saltbox (check your inbox).

  • A government-issued ID (driver's license, state ID, or passport).

  • Your Certificate of Insurance, if you're the primary member for your company (PDF or image, up to 10 MB).

  • Your phone β€” you'll finish setup there.

The 5 steps

  1. Profile (web) Click the link in your invite email to land on members.saltbox.com. Enter your name, phone number, personal address, and a profile photo.

  2. Certificate of Insurance (web) If you're the primary member, upload your COI here. Drag and drop a PDF or image, or click to select a file. Our billing team reviews it and you'll get an update once it's approved. (See the COI article for what we look for.)

  3. Team invites (web β€” optional) Invite teammates now if you'd like, or skip this and come back later from your Team page.

  4. Review (web) Confirm your details. When you're ready, you'll see a prompt: "Download the app to verify your identity."

  5. Identity verification (mobile) Install the Saltbox App from the App Store or Google Play, sign in with the same email, and complete a quick ID scan and selfie. (See the identity verification article for the full flow.)

That's it. Once your identity is verified, your account is fully active, your door access is provisioned, and you're ready to go.

Tips for a smooth first session

  • Use your phone for KYC, not someone else's. The app needs to be on the same device you'll carry into the building.

  • Have your ID handy when you start. It's the longest step, and it's quicker if you're not searching for your wallet mid-flow.

  • Good lighting helps. Most identity verification retries are because of a blurry or dark ID photo. A well-lit room and a steady hand usually do it on the first try.

  • Got stuck? Tap the chat icon in the app and our team will help.
