If you're the primary member for your company, you'll upload your Certificate of Insurance during onboarding. Our billing team reviews each COI and approves it once everything checks out.
Where to upload
The COI upload lives in the web portal at members.saltbox.com, in step 2 of the onboarding wizard. If you've already finished onboarding and need to upload a new or renewed COI, head to your Documents screen.
What we accept
File types: PDF or image
File size: Up to 10 MB
If your file is over 10 MB, compress it first and try again.
What we look for
Our billing team checks each COI against five things:
Commercial General Liability (CGL) coverage is included.
Property coverage is included.
Business Interruption (BI) coverage is included.
The policy is current (not expired).
The business name on the COI matches your Saltbox account.
If anything's off, your COI will come back with a note explaining what to fix.
What happens after you upload
Under review: Your COI sits with the billing team. You'll see "Under review" on your account.
Approved: You're good to go. Your COI status updates to current.
Needs attention: You'll see a clear note about what we need. Re-upload from your Documents screen and we'll review again.
We aim to review COIs within one business day.
Renewal reminders
We'll send you a reminder before your policy expires so you have time to upload a renewal. You'll get the reminder by email and as a notification in the app.
Common reasons for a re-upload
Wrong document type. A general liability policy isn't the same as a Certificate of Insurance. We need the COI specifically.
Name mismatch. The business name on the COI doesn't match your Saltbox account. Have your insurer reissue the COI with the correct legal name.
Expired policy. A new term started since your last upload β we just need the current certificate.
If a rejection note isn't clear, tap the chat icon in the app and our team will walk you through it.
